Anyone with a troubled friend wants to help them, but to be helpful I need people to be honest and open. I’m going to take you for your word, so if you tell me to go away I’m not going to cling to you, I’m going to respect what you say and give you your space like an adult. (And I can’t stand the hypocrisy between ladies wanting guys be open about their feelings while not being honest about their own.)

I’ve been in both situations before and I get it. But I think it’s terrible communication - it doesn’t help you, it makes people who care about you feel bad, and the solution is simple.

Sometimes its hard for people to express themselves. And they are ashamed of how they really feel. I don’t like it when people aren’t honest either, because I’m also prone to taking people literally, but when someone has major issues they usually have huge difficulties communicating their feelings. I’m sympathetic if the reason they do this is because they have problems, rather than just being a liar.
